Mars the planet

Intro to Mars
Mars sometimes referred to as the red planet got its name mars from the god of war. It is the fourth planet from the sun. It’s one of the most known and famous planets and the reason for this is scientists have found signs of life on the planet, which suggests that there could have been life on the planet and if so is there a way that life can still be sustained on the planet.
Physical features
Mars is the second smallest planet in the solar system and is 140,000,000 miles away from the earth, in kilometers its 225,308,160. Mars has the radius of about 2160 miles long that’s the same distance as traveling from Ravenscroft Tennessee to dig arm Montana driving. That would take about a day and 10 hours from point a to point b so traveling around mars should take about the same time. The gravity on mars is 3.711m/s^2 which is 3.711 meters per second squared, it is about 3 times less than the gravity on earth so up on mars you would be much lighter then you are on earth. An example is if you weigh 100 pounds on earth you would weigh 37.7 pounds on mars.

Mission to mars
Scientists have been discussing the possibility of sending people to mars because the earth was getting overpopulated. Research on this has started since 2010, when scientist found signs of life in mars and also learned that mars had conditions suitable for life in the past.
In 2013 a global search started for the first humans to go to mars. More than 200,000 men and women answered to the first call for astronauts to go to mars. Out of the 200,000 men and women that answered to the call only 6 teams of 4 were picked but they are only chosen to go under the extensive training which began in 2015 not to go to mars.
The missions to mars will be in 2020 and 2022; they will be unmanned only containing a communication satellite and a rover. The communication satellite is to communicate between earth's and mars 24/7. The rover will be to search the area and to choose a good location for the settlement.

The next launch after the rover will be in 2024. The cargo launch where 2 life unites, 2 life support units and a supply unite are going to be sent up to mars So that a reliable living environment will be waiting for the astronauts when they get there.
The launch in 2026 will be the launch that has the first humans to land on mars. This launch will contain 4 crew members and depending on if the launch goes well and if they reach their destination there will be a new crew going to mars every 2 years.
